Welcome to Lunar Precursor Robotic Program NASA’s LPRP manages path-finding robotic missions to the moon including the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) and Lunar CRater Observation & Sensing Satellite (LCROSS). The program office located at Marshall Space Flight Center is leading the way back to the moon with precursor missions that will enable sustained human exploration of our solar system.

Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Mission
The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) is the first in a series of missions to the moon. Planned for launch in 2009, LRO will orbit the moon for at least one year.

Lunar CRater Observation & Sensing Satellite Mission
Scheduled for launch in 2009, LCROSS will travel to the moon as a co-manifested payload aboard the launch vehicle for the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO).
